The Postgraduate Department of English established in 2014, is a vibrant and intellectually stimulating academic unit dedicated to fostering a deep appreciation for language, literature, and cultural studies. Since its establishment as a postgraduate department in 2017, it has consistently offered a dynamic curriculum that combines rigorous academic training with opportunities for personal and professional growth.

Since its establishment as a postgraduate department in 2017, it has consistently offered a dynamic curriculum that combines rigorous academic training with opportunities for personal and professional growth.
Our department is driven by a team of dedicated faculty members who are committed in providing a comprehensive education that not only enriches students’ understanding of the English language and its literature but also equips them with the critical and creative skills necessary for diverse career opportunities. Through a blend of theoretical knowledge and practical application, students are encouraged to engage with literature in a way that enhances their analytical abilities and cultural awareness.
Under the FYUG Programme, the department offers a BA Honours in English (4 years) course, featuring carefully selected Discipline Specific Core (DSC) and Discipline Specific Elective (DSE) courses that cover a broad spectrum of subjects, including literary studies, cinema, media studies, cultural studies, and research methodologies. Additionally, our Ability Enhancement Course (AEC), Skill Enhancement Courses (SEC), and Value Added Courses (VAC) are designed to refine students’ competencies in listening, speaking, reading, and writing, thereby enhancing their employability and readiness for future challenges.
With a rich and varied curriculum paired with a dedicated faculty team focused on encouraging creativity and critical thinking, the Postgraduate Department of English at Don Bosco College continues to contribute significantly to the academic excellence of the institution, preparing students for success both within and beyond the realm of academia.
